LESLIE HAWKINS & Babes Breaking Barriers

As an avid volunteer, I quickly noticed the vast array of barriers people face in their every day lives. These barriers come in many different shapes and sizes, and often present themselves at the least convenient times. After battling with anxiety and depression, I became aware of how hard it is to balance work, family, a social life, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I became hyper aware of how many barriers and crutches I created for myself. I've always been very self-aware, but about a year ago I started on a life altering journey that has now led to the creation of this site. Babes Breaking Barriers was founded on my belief that you have to create the change you want to see in the world, and most importantly, in yourself! I love celebrating kick-ass women and encouraging women everywhere to max out on their potential, deconstruct any barriers in their way, and shoot well past the moon and the stars.  I was sick of people telling me what to do, I was sick of blaming everyone BUT myself for what was going in wrong in my life. I decided to hop over to the driver’s seat and take control. I promised myself that I would never let anything or anyone stand in my way…not even myself.

MY FAVE REMINDERS FOR A HEALTHY LIFE

Nutrition
You are what you eat! Feed your body carefully, and remember... the less ingredients, the better! Focus on foods that are closets to their natural state.
Physical Activity
Get moving! Find the right exercise and activities that work for you! Go for a run, swim, or take that Zumba class you've been eyeing!
Choose to say No
Never spread yourself too thin! You can't do it all, so know when to say no or to delegate tasks.
Positive Thinking
Create a positive headspace. Often we manifest our thoughts, so make your thoughts be on your side! Give yourself positive affirmations and forgive yourself for mistakes, we all make them!
Have Faith
Have faith in yourself, and most importantly stay connected with your faith. Whether this is going to church, praying, doing good deeds, or just being one with nature....connect with the most high!
Support
Create and maintain healthy relationships. Surround yourself with people who elevate you mentally and emotionally. Cut off the bad fruit, and never be afraid to ask for help!
